The Senate Finance Committee bill includes a provision that establishes demonstration grants that would address expected labor shortages and fill high-in-demand jobs in the health professions workforce. The effort would involve helping low-income individuals obtain relevant education and training in the health care field. In the bill, eligible individuals may receive child care, as well as other supports such as financial aid. If the legislation passes, the Senate will then need to combine the two health care reform bills. The House is waiting for the Senate to consolidate the bills before moving forward with its legislation.
